Grace and peace to you!
My name is Kevin Hicks. I am the pastor here at Conyers Presbyterian Church. I have been here since January 2016 and I love this church. I spent the previous ten years down in Vidalia, GA as pastor of Vidalia Presbyterian Church. I am a lifelong Presbyterian, born and raised in the church.
I am what you call a second career pastor. I earned a B.S. in Management from Georgia Tech and worked in manufacturing for several years in Birmingham, AL and then worked in computer programming for several more years in Atlanta. At 35, I answered the call to full time ministry and set off to Austin, TX with my wife and children, where I earned a Masters of Divinity. My son Sam was four and my daughter Sarah was only one. Now, Sam is at UGA and Sarah is a sophomore in high school.
When it comes to church work, I am a “jack of all trades and master of none” as the saying goes. I preach, teach, and lead worship. I tend to the bodies and souls of the congregation as Pastor of the church. And, I try to keep things running “decently and in order” as the Head of Staff, providing vision when the Lord provides.
I am a twin and a woodworker. I am a mountain bike rider, a shade tree mechanic, and a tailor of clothes. I own a banjo. (Didn’t say I can play it.) I am a husband to a beautiful and faithful wife and a father to a son and daughter that I adore. I love to fix things. I love to read and I love to learn, but I don’t particularly enjoy school. I enjoy time with my old college buddies and making new friends as well. I am a bit of an introvert in an extrovert’s job. I prefer the outdoors. I fly fish and tie flies, neither of which I have done much of lately. I tend to worry too much. And by the grace of God, I am a man of faith, trusting my life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
I am far from perfect, yet saved by grace. I’m pretty happy about that. It gives me something to share with you!
Your Pastor,
